Who is Wild Thang?

8-year-old Pekingese Wild Thang has been declared the winner of the 2024 World's Ugliest Dog contest in Petaluma, California.

This year's contest, which took place during the 2024 Sonoma-Marin Fair on Friday, featured eight contestants,

Wild Thang has competed in the World's Ugliest Caterpillar competition five times, but this was his victory.

The dog's unusual appearance was due to a disease called canine distemper when he was just 10 weeks old. The disease caused his teeth to not grow,

which left his tongue hanging out and a muscle flexion in one of his legs.

His teeth did not grow, so his tongue hangs out and his right front leg paddles 24/7."

His owner Ann Lewis will be awarded the $5,000 prize on NBC's Today show.
