Football legend Lionel Messi has decided not to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

After representing Argentina at the Copa America between June 20 and July 14, Messi believes the Olympics will be "too much" for him at his age.

His decision also takes into account the several months away from his club, Inter Miami,

which would be necessary to participate in the Olympics.

As for the 2026 World Cup, Messi's potential participation remains uncertain.

Having already achieved notable success in his professional career, including a World Cup win in 2022,

he now aims to complete his trophy collection with the Coupe de France and the FIFA Puskas Award.

If Messi leads Argentina to another World Cup victory,

it would be a historic achievement,

as only Brazil (in 1958 and 1962) have won consecutive World Cups before this.
